Breaking: the UK Government has announced another U-turn — this time by rejoining the Erasmus programme.![]()
Earlier this year, I brought a motion to Council making the case for youth mobility and exchange schemes. That motion was agreed.![]()
These programmes matter for Dumfries & Galloway. They matter for tackling depopulation. And they matter for the long-term workforce our NHS depends on. ![]()

Christmas lunch at the Community Cafe, Catholic Church Hall, Dalbeattie![]()
When I am able to on a Tuesday, I have lunch at the Community Cafe in Dalbeattie. This is run by volunteers and for £5 we get a three course meal and as much tea or coffee as we want.![]()
The team today produced the best Christmas dinner I've had in years! Choice of start, full turkey dinner, choice of 3 sweets, shortbread and mince pir afterwards, tea or coffee, and non-alcoholic drinks with the meal. Fantastic value for £10!![]()
The Cafe provides a warm space with hot food, friendly service and good company. My thanks to the volunteers who provide this amazing services which helps prevent social isolation throughout the year. Such facilities are seen across our communities and I would like to thank all those who volunteer to provide anything across our communities which provides warm spaces and prevents social isolation for your time and effort. It is very much appreciated. ![]()
The organiser of the Dalbeattie Cafe is in the Christmas tree!
