Easing of restrictions – South of Scotland update

Scottish Government announced further easing of restrictions relating to limiting the spread of COVID-19 on Friday and they came into force today (Monday 6 July).

Emma Harper MSP welcomed the changes and urged people in the South of Scotland to remember that the virus still poses a risk.

Ms Harper said: “I am delighted that beer gardens and outdoor spaces in pubs and restaurants are re-opening today across Scotland. This is an important step for the economy, for local business and for moving towards a new normal.

“While I want everyone who can take advantage of the new rules to enjoy themselves, I want to appeal to everyone to stay safe, to stay sensible and to follow all the safety measures which are in place to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19.

“Dumfries and Galloway has many fantastic, high quality pubs and restaurants. Please support them and be patient with the staff and with other customers as we get used to the new way of doing things.”
