NEW SOCIAL HOMES FOR D&G

A welcome combined investment of over £11 million of Scottish Government funding will create new social homes across Dumfries and Galloway.

Projects include, by Loreburne Housing Group which will see homes built in Lincluden, at the old Parish Church site and Academy Street in Castle Douglas. Other projects are going ahead by DGHP (part of the Wheatley Group) at the old Stables in Lincluden and St Medans in Monreith in the Machars.

The projects, approved by the D&G Council Planning Committee last week, will see 25 new family homes in Stranraer and eleven 2-bedroom bungalows, ten 2-bedroom houses, six 3-bedroom houses and four 4-bedroom houses across Lincluden.

Commenting, Emma Harper MSP said:

“I wholeheartedly welcome this investment in new homes in our region by the Scottish Government, and the work Loreburne Housing and DGHP have done to ensure the planning was in place for the funding bids to be successful.

“Updating and creating new social housing across our region is a top priority for the Scottish Government, and the Local Authority and I fully support this. These latest projects work towards the ambition from the Scottish Government to build 35,000 additional homes for social rent by the end of this Parliamentary session in 2021.

“I look forward to seeing these projects progress, and to continuing to do all I can to ensure Dumfries and Galloway continues to receive investment in housing and infrastructure to ensure it is attractive to people and businesses.”
