Statement on Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park

Emma Harper MSP South Scotland said;

“I have found out the following information directly from the Scottish Government with regards to a misleading press statement issued by Finlay Carson MSP.
“The world-renowned status of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park is not at risk.

“The south Scotland team has undergone a few personnel changes in the last few months, which contributed to what appears to have been an unfortunate administrative error in that the team did not submit the required annual report by the due date.

“Once the team were made aware of the oversight they rectified it immediately and the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park was reinstated as soon as the report was submitted.

“While this is now resolved, the Scottish Government have also taken steps to prevent it happening again.”
